Azzarelli Clinic was founded by Helen M Cigaros MS RN in 1999. The Clinic started in a cleared out closet at the Lisieux Outreach Center by taking the blood pressures of parishioners after mass.
As Helen's group of patients grew, Fr. Tony Taschetta, Fr. Joel Fortier, Mrs. Chigaros and Dr. James Kennedy formed an as hoc group who approached the Azzarelli Family to help them build a center which would be there for people with no insurance.
Barbara and Joe Azzarelli generously donated funds so that a 3 exam room clinic was built within the Hammes building, formerly St. Teresa Catholic Grade School.
The new clinic opened in 2005. since that time, under the direction of Mrs. Chigaros and volunteer Physicans and Nurses, the clinic has served 1000's of patients.
In February 2017 Mrs. Chigaros passed away. Dr. Fisher, an active volunteer physican still saw the need for the clinic to continue. They called upon Dave Duda MS RN to help the clinic continue. Dave stepped into the role of Director short after. In his year of being the director he made great improvements from organization of the clinic, increasing staff, fundraising and outreach. Dave has since stepped down but is still an active part of the clinic. He is on the Board of Directors for the Clinic and is
in charge of Fundraising.
Today the clinic director is Delynn Geistwhite, RNC . She has continued to improve on organization, doctor relationships, grant writing, and women's health clinics.
The clinic sees over 1600 patients now, of that 80% work in jobs which are part-time, cash paid and full-time where there is no benefits or they cannot afford it.
All are Welcome, we do not accept any type of insurance payment. Our services are free. We operate on the generosity of volunteers and donors like you.
